(WXOW) – A Day of the Dead celebration is coming to Western Wisconsin.
The McIntosh Memorial Library is teaming up with the Folk-Art Collective, Driftless Curiosity, and Thoreau College to present the first annual Dia de Los Muertos/Day of the Dead celebration on Saturday, October 16.
The event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Keewaydin Farm 15270 Hauke Lane in Viola. There is no cost to attend.
First-come-first serve dinner tickets will be available for a free, three course, traditional Mexican dinner. A hand-made tortilla workshop will also take place.
You can also find Mexican folk-art paintings, craft workshops, bilingual story time, Spanish book giveaways, and professional dancing presentations.
There will also be an offering ceremony where people are invited to bring personal items for those that have passed away like flowers, candy, photographs, or food items. Attendees can assist in construction the altar with help from volunteers. A ceremony will take place at 6:15 p.m.
