Tempe police have identified the man whose body was found in Tempe Town Lake on Saturday.
The man was identified as 35-year-old Aaron Lee Yazzi, police confirmed Tuesday.
On Saturday, officials found the body of Yazzi, who had been missing, after he ran into the lake on Friday. According to the police, the reason Yazzi ran into the lake is unknown.
The Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department’s dive team found Yazzi’s body on Saturday morning. He was last seen running into the lake from its north shore at about 4 p.m. Friday and witnesses did not see him resurface, police said.
Search efforts were paused at about 7:20 p.m. Friday because of a lack of visibility and incoming storms.
