The Walking Dead features cameo from Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s son πŸ’₯😭😭πŸ’₯

The Walking Dead‘s latest episode featured a cameo from somebody who is already well connected to the zombie drama – because his dad is Negan Smith star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Young Gus Morgan made his Walking Dead debut in the AMC show’s most recent episode, ‘Out of the Ashes’, playing a walker who is being terrorised by a group of teens before a fearless Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming) shuts the situation down.

A clip featuring Gus was shared by The Talking Dead on Twitter, with a caption that teased: “Judith being a badass AND Jeffrey and Hilarie Burton Morgan’s real-life son Gus Morgan as a walker??? All in one sneak peek??? It doesn’t get much cooler than that!”

Gus is the son of Jeffrey, who has played Negan since 2016, and Hilarie Burton Morgan, an actress known for her roles as Peyton Sawyer on One Tree Hill and Dr Lauren Boswell on Grey’s Anatomy.

Jeffrey first shared the news that his son was going to appear on the show back in April, as he revealed that Gus was “so pumped it’s ridiculous” about being transformed into a walker.

“The last time we did any zombie make-up on him, he looked at his reflection in the mirror and passed out,” the actor joked, although it seems that Gus managed to get through his role on the show without any more fainting incidents.

Jeffrey has since shared his pride over his son’s Walking Dead debut on Instagram, posting a series of snaps of him on set as well as a video of his transformation into a zombie in the make-up chair.

“My dude. Me, @hilarieburton and George ‘THATS MY BOY!! We are super proud of Gusy Dean,” he wrote. “Thanks to @amcthewalkingdead and @gnicotero for making a dream come true… a damn hoot!”

Gus is the second member of Jeffrey’s family to co-star with him on The Walking Dead, after Hilarie played Negan’s wife Lucille in season 10 episode ‘Here’s Negan’, which explored Negan’s backstory and his grief over the loss of Lucille.

Jeffrey recently spoke again about his ideas for a potential spin-off show for Negan, saying that ideas have been “discussed with me and network people”.

“There are still stories to be told with Negan,” he said. “I kind of know how the season has worked itself so far, and we’re cracking open windows here and there that would lend themselves to more Negan story.”

The Walking Dead is airing season 11 on AMC in the US. Meanwhile, UK viewers can now watch all episodes via STAR on Disney+, where season 11 is also premiering.
