An inquest is to be held after the death of a 48-year-old man.
Elton Johnson was found unresponsive by his wife on the morning of March 5 after they had spent the previous evening drinking alcohol together.
He was not wearing his breathing machine at their home on Woodcroft, in Wood Lane, when he passed away.
North Staffordshire senior coroner Andrew Barkley said: “The information suggests he had been consuming alcohol with his wife.
“She came downstairs the following morning and found him unresponsive, not wearing his breathing machine which he used.
“It is believed that he had got up during the evening because the cats were being let into the property.
“In these circumstances an inquest is necessary. It will be resumed on June 21.”
